✋ What is it?

This is a solution found in the Coinbase app. It allows users to select the value for a cryptocurrency price without losing the context of the current price for that specific cryptocurrency.

🤲 How does this interaction or solution work?

Coinbase users can set price alerts to monitor the value changes of cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum. When setting an alert from the iOS app, users are presented with a custom bottom sheet/menu.

The sheet has a range picker that resembles an analogue FM radio dial. The picker is set exactly at the current price of the selected cryptocurrency. The user can dial the price by swiping the through the picker and the UI has a couple of labels that will individually turn into bold blue if the selected price is above or below the current price.

🙌 How does this interaction or solution work?

Keeping Context.

Coinbase users don't need to memorize the exact price of the cryptocurrency when they want to set an alert. Since the picker provides the price of the coin in real time, the user only needs to directly go into this view and dial into the desired value (above or below the current price) to set a price alert.

This type of solutions are helpful when the there's a fragile context, that requires memorization and re-navigation.
